Cpt (Ret.) Stephen A. Tremper (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Stephen A. Tremper was born on Independence Day, 1955, to Don and Mary Kelly Tremper in Yuma, Arizona. He departed this life September 23, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri. He was sixty-nine years, two months and nineteen days of age.
Stephen was raised in Arizona. After completing high school and college, he enlisted in the United States Army where he established his career.
He met his wife, Barbara Sullivan in 1977 while stationed at Ft. Sam Houston in Texas and on March 2, 1978, they were married. Together they traveled with the Army and enjoyed different areas of the United States and Germany, making lifelong friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his dad, Don Tremper; his granddaughter, Grace; and his sister, Phyllis.
He is survived by his loving wife of over forty-six years, Barbara; his son Nathaniel Tremper and his wife Jennifer of Stoutland, Missouri; three grandchildren, William, Nathaniel and Destiny; his mother, Mary Tremper of Stoutland, Missouri; three brothers, Dan Tremper of Stoutland, Missouri, John Tremper of Kansas City, Missouri and Tony Tremper of Phoenix, Arizona; and a special cousin, Pam Crow; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stephen served with the United States Army at several locations in the United States and Europe.
He became an Analyst for Caliber Corporation and was proud to have the opportunity to complete several collaborative contracts with the Pentagon. He greatly enjoyed his employment with Caliber and was highly regarded by his co-workers and his contribution to the company.
Following his thirty year career with Caliber Corporation, Stephen and Barbara retired to Stoutland, Missouri in 2016 to live on a farm. He referred to himself as a “Gentleman’s Farmer”.
He loved art, music and travel. He was a passionate historian, visiting many historic military sites throughout the years. He enjoyed many visits to the art museums in St. Louis and neighboring “Little Italy”.
He loved his country and was generous to military causes. His heart was especially fond of the Disable Veterans and Tunnels to Towers charities. He proudly served his country and will be remembered for his confidence, commitment and loyalty.
He loved his family and was a big part of each one of their lives. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and know his family and friends will share stories and memories of how Stephen impacted their lives for many years to come.
A memorial to Tunnels to Towers has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
