Curtis "Gene" Wills (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Curtis “Gene” Eugene Wills was born July 5, 1940, in Springfield, Missouri, to David “Dutch” Wills and Ruby Harris Wills. He departed this life Monday, February 23, 2026 in Marshfield Care Center in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, seven months and eighteen days.
In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Wills.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Robertson; two grandchildren, Conner and Kadence Robertson; his step-daughter, Toni Lightner; his step-son, Mike McWilliams; and other relatives and friends.
Gene was raised in Phillipsburg, Missouri and graduated from Conway High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he faithfully served his country.
Gene found his career in banking, where he served as loan officer at First National Bank, and continued there as the name changed to Boatman’s Bank. His entire banking career was at the same bank, an accomplishment he was quite proud of.
He also enjoyed farming and raising cattle. He considered himself a hobby farmer and liked driving his tractor all around his farm. His grandchildren also looked forward to spending time on the farm, riding on the tractor and learning how to use a thrasher.
Gene grew up in the Methodist Church and was loved by many. He really enjoyed helping people.
Gene collected train and John Deere memorabilia. He was very proud of his collection and like showing it to his family and friends. He also was known for his beautiful antiques and liked going shopping for more antiques.
Most of all, Gene loved spending time with his grandchildren, delighting in their daily lives and accomplishments. He was a great father to Laura and a cherished Pawpaw to Conner and Kadence.
Gene was a good man and trusted neighbor and friend. He will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Conway Cemetery.
A memorial to Conway Cemetery has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
