Dakota Dean Morgan, son of Belinda Gleason and Mike Morgan, was born June 13, 1997, in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday morning, December 26, 2017, at his home in Mountain Grove, at the age of twenty years.
Dakota was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Eddie Morgan; two great-grandfathers, Billy Gleason Sr. and Ralph Flageolle.
Dakota is survived by his parents, Belinda Gleason and Mike Morgan, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; a brother, Wyatt Morgan, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; his maternal grandparents, Regina and Dan Taylor, of Arcola, Illinois and Bill and Denise Gleason of Mountain Grove, Missouri; his paternal grandmother, Rose Morgan, of West Plains, Missouri; his aunt and uncle, Amy and Kyle Jones, of Kansas City, Kansas; two great-grandmothers, Genora Gleason, of Macomb, Missouri and Doris Flageolle, of Rogersville, Missouri; Pete Davidson, who was like a father to Dakota; and several other relatives and friends.
Dakota or “Tootie” as known by his family, entered this life as a living miracle. He was born at a mere one pound eight ounces, with a battle of health ahead of him. Dakota’s strength remained and he fought with an unsurpassed bravery to continue to grow in his life and as a result flourished into an amazing person.
Dakota attended Skyview School in Mountain Grove and was scheduled to graduate in spring of 2018. He enjoyed being surrounded by his classmates and his time in school. Dakota also had a love of music and could be found many days singing and dancing with his brother and mom. Dakota’s greatest joy was being surrounded by people, hearing the laugh of those he loved, and spending time with his mom, his best friend.
To know Dakota was to be changed; to know a joy; strength; and love that was not of this world. Dakota touched every life he entered and left it better. He was an inspiration to anyone who met him, he would bring joy and an uplifting spirit to any place or person he touched. For Dakota’s family and those who knew him best, we know the blessing that was given to us by having Dakota for the time we did. We celebrate the life that was his and cherish the memories and time that he gave us.
