Dale is survived by his loving wife, Sheila; two sons, Allen and his wife Cheryl, of Richland, Missouri and Travis Black and his wife Christy, of Mansfield, Missouri, whom he raised: a adopted daughter, Bonnie Couch, six grandchildren, Bryton, Riley, Kadie, Addison, Darren, and Destiny; a sister, Wilma Jean Prewitt of Springfield, Missouri; three nephews, Danny Lawler and his wife Carla, Russell, and Jim Hart; a special friend who was like a son, Bruce Loomis and his wife Kelly; two great-nieces and nephews, , Laura Pfister, and Kurt Lawler; two sister in-laws, Nadine Hart and Connie Chandler; four brothers-in-law, Rodney, Pat, Rick, and Phil Chandler and his wife Dawn; many other relatives, and caring friends.
Dale was born and raised in Wright County on the family farm. Life was never easy on the farm, but between doing chores and working the field, he and his brother always found time to pester their sister whenever they could. Dale went to the Crawford School and made it part way through Hartville High School before realizing it wasn't for him. When he was 19, he went to Wichita, Kansas to start working in the Boeing Aircraft plant until he was drafted during the Korean War.
After he returned from the Korean War he went and bought a dump truck and started working various jobs. He later started working for Prefab Trucking making long hauls all across the country. When Dale wasn't on the road, he was on the farm taking care of his livestock. Later, Dale owned the restaurant in town and was also part of the Wright County Sheriff’s posse for a while. One of his biggest accomplishments he had was clearing out Lake Casador with Bob Dugger. A few years ago, Dale and good friend, Kenneth Loney, pulled a 5th wheel trailer to Alaska to pan for gold.
Dale lived to hunt and fish, if you couldn't find him at work or on the farm, chances were he was out in a field or on a riverbank. He loved to fry fish for his friends. He loved horses, especially watching wild horses gallop in the open fields. He always had a good dog and he had a very special cat, Aussie. But, most importantly, Dale loved his family very much. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and caring friend. We celebrate his wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories he created.
