Dale Hooker's Obituary
Harrison Dale Hooker, son of Harrison Pryor and Flora Harrison Hooker, was born July 17, 1919, in Dixon, Missouri. He left this life to join our Lord on Friday, April 3, 2009, in his home, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, nine months, and sixteen days. On June 22, 1941, he was united in marriage to Allieen Parker, during their forty years together one daughter and one son were born. Allieen passed away on October 5, 1986. On October 22, 1988, he was united in marriage to Rita Y. Bear Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a son, H. Dale Hooker, II. Dale is survived by his wife, Rita, of the home; a daughter, Anne Williamson, of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Brian Jones, and Brooke Mizell; three great-grandchildren, Mason and Madison Mizell, and Ethan Jones; four step-sons, Mark Campbell, and his wife, Cindy, of Lebanon, Missouri, Jim Campbell, and his wife, LaDonna, of Raytown, Missouri, Scott Campbell, of Lenexa, Kansas, and Greg Campbell, and his wife, Katie, of Indianapolis, Indiana; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in Dixon, Missouri, and was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1940 until 1945, during World War II, and then made his home in Brooklyn, New York until the end of the war. From 1950 until 1968, Dale owned and operated Dale’s Sporting Goods in Devils Elbow, Missouri and made his home on property that was homesteaded by his family in 1864. During this time he also was a Deputy Sheriff of Pulaski County. In 1968, he sold the family business and moved to Lebanon, where he served on the Board of Directors of Laclede Electric Cooperative and then became General Manager of the Coop until retiring in 1984. For the last few years Dale and Rita had made their home in Springfield. Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon. He belonged to the Lebanon Rotary Club, was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Arlington Lodge # 346 AF & AM in Dixon, Missouri. He had served on the Lebanon City Council, the Hughes Foundation Board, and as president of the Lebanon Country Club. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, spending time at the computer, raising and riding horses, and watching the financial market. He was a wonderful storyteller and also liked listening to books on tape. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will remember him as a devoted family man, a dedicated businessman, a patriotic citizen, and a good friend. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday April 8, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Dixon Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday evening 6-7:30 pm under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the diabetes Association.
