Dale Wood (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Dale Wood, 80, of Dawn MO, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his daughter’s residence in Lebanon MO.
Dale Wood was born October 21, 1933 in Mooresville MO the son of Wanda Bryan Wood and Emma Melvina Moorshead Wood. He was a graduate of Dawn High School and attended Warrensburg State Teachers College.
Dale served state-side during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force from October 1953 thru August 1955.
On September 22, 1956 Dale married his wife of 54 years, Virginia Anne Rivers at the Park Street Baptist Church in Columbia SC. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2010.
Dale worked for many years at the Community Bank of Dawn, which later became Bank Midwest. Dale was also the Postmaster at Dawn and he wrote the Dawn news for the Constitution Tribune, which brought enjoyment to all of Livingston County.
He was a member of Dawn Baptist Church and served as deacon there. He was the secretary of the Water Board from its inception and was a volunteer firefighter. Dale was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 539 of Dawn and the Grand River Historical Society.
Dale is survived by three children, Nancy Russell and husband Steve of Lebanon MO, Bryan Wood and wife Wanda of Dawn MO and Melody McAffry and husband Ned of MeGhee AR; eight grandchildren, Blake Russell, Amy Russell George, Ashley Russell Parker, Keith Russell, Ross Wood, Terrill Wood, Skyler McAffry and Kyle McAffry; three great granddaughters, Sarah Parker, Brooke Parker and Caroline George ;a sister, Vernice Wood Sharp and husband Bob of Dawn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Anne.
Memorials in honor of Dale Wood may be made to the Grand Oaks Assembly and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
