Dallas Earl McElroy, son of the late Kenneth & Mary (Seagle) McElroy, was born on November 26, 1940 in Blue Mound, Arkansas and departed this life on July 19, 2017 in Columbia, Missouri. At the time of his passing he was 76 years, 7 months and 25 days of age.
Dallas was born in Arkansas and later moved to Illinois where he attended school. He joined the National Guard when he was 15 and then served 2 stints in the U.S Army. He loved to write stories and even published two of them. He sold Redwing shoes, worked at a casket company, JC Penny and worked as a Caterpillar mechanic. He loved to read, work on cars, volunteer for the 4-H Club, playing with his grandkids and scaring their parents.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Mike and Daryl; and one grandson, Dylan. He is survived by his two sons, Mark & wife Laura McElroy and Eric McElroy; three daughters, Tami McElroy, Amie & husband Brian Lurten and Suzi Rievley; two brothers, Lyle McElroy and Dean McElroy; one sister, Marilyn Gonnett; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves many friends and family who will all truly miss him.
