Daniel Ramsey's Obituary
Daniel Robert Ramsey, son of Thomas W. and Mary Ann Learman Ramsey, was born May 10, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life Saturday, April 11, 2009, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-seven years, eleven months, and one day. On December 21, 1976, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Kay Matheny, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. He was preceded in death by his parents. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca, of the home; two daughters, Melissa Whaley, and Kimberly Ramsey, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Timothy Ramsey, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Alexis and Blaine; two brothers, Thomas Ramsey, and his wife, Debbie, of Monticello, Indiana, and William Ramsey, of McClean, Illinois; a sister, Cheryl Plylar, and her husband, Tom, of Cedar Lake, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised in the southwest side of Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from high school there. He then entered the military and served his country faithfully in the United States Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam during the war. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Army, Daniel joined his family in northwest Indiana, where he met and married Rebecca. They made their home in Indiana until 1981, when they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. For the next twelve years, Daniel worked as a truck driver for a transport company. In 1994, the family moved to Lebanon, Missouri and made their home. Daniel had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended First Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion in Indiana. In his spare time he enjoyed having coffee and visiting with his trucking buddies at the B & D Restaurant twice each day. He also liked to go fishing with his brothers when they could all get together. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his two grandchildren. Daniel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday April 15, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. There will be a visitation after the service under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Kidney Foundation.
