Daniel Vern Riggins' Obituary
Daniel Vern Riggins, son of Cleo Vern and Helen L. Krieg Riggins, was born April 7, 1954, in Elmhurst, Illinois. He departed this life Saturday, May 26, 2007, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-three years, one month, and nineteen days. His parents preceded him in death. Daniel is survived by a daughter, Lindsay Riggins, of Manhattan Beach, California; two brothers, Dennis L. Riggins, and his wife, Rosie, and Michael Riggins, and his wife, Mary, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Deborah R. Hayes, and her husband, Bill, and Sharon Jarrett, and her husband, Bob, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Galesburg, Illinois area, and then moved with his family to El Segundo, California, where he graduated high school in the Class of 1972. He then made his home in Los Angeles County, California where he worked for the street department in Culver City and Manhattan Beach for several years. In 2002, he moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made his home near his brothers and sisters. Daniel followed the Baptist faith throughout his life and had attended a Baptist church since moving to Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and reading. He remained very young at heart and liked listening to rock music. He enjoyed watching baseball games and was especially a fan of the Chicago Cubs. He also liked spending time with his family and friends. Daniel was a loving father, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service. Memorials may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
