Danney Lee Atkinson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Danney Lee Atkinson, son of Clarence and Naomi Peterson Atkinson, was born August 10, 1952, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, October 21, 2016, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, two months, and eleven days.
On August 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Marie Snider, and to this union four sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons, Christopher Lee and Eric Wayne Atkinson.
Danney is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Yvonne, of the home; two sons, Nathan Atkinson, and Dustin Atkinson, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Debbie Musice, and husband, Jerry, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Teresa Claxton, and her husband, Donald, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Debbie MacGowan, and her husband, Robert, of Fremont, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1970. He then began a career with Marathon Electric Corporation which later became Regal Beloit, where he worked as a tool and die machinist for over thirty-five years. After he and Yvonne were married, they made their home on their farm near Lebanon, and Danney enjoyed working on the farm.
Danney was an active member of Candock Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, church treasurer, and as a Sunday school teacher.
He loved riding motorcycles and had raced on dirt tracks for many years. He owned a Victory Motorcycle of which he was very proud. He also liked John Deere tractors and by his retirement, he was able to purchase the John Deere of his dreams. He was a skilled builder and had built several homes through the years. He also liked to go deer and turkey hunting each year. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his sons and great-nephew, Charley Sloan.
Danney was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his sixty-four years.
