Danny Davis' Obituary
Danny Kenneth Davis, son of Wilbur and Nellie Simeon Davis, was born January 31, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, December 11, 2011, in St. John?s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years, ten months, and ten days. On April 24, 1981, he was united in marriage to Joanne Glenda Barton, and they shared the last thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Patty. Danny is survived by his loving wife, Joanne, of the home; three daughters, Jody Hollinhead, of Brazoria, Texas, Michelle Standley, of Morrisville, Missouri, and Laurie Redd, of Grand Junction, Colorado; eight grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Donovan, and Patricia Howard, both of Yuba City, California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Parkville area, north of Kansas City, Missouri. He entered the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force. During his seventeen years in the Air Force, he was stationed in several locations stateside, and was in Germany, Korea, and Africa. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to the Kansas City, Missouri area. Danny worked as a taxi cab driver for several years in various locations where he and Joanne made their home. Later, they retired to Lebanon, Missouri, and made their home. Danny had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, going to car races, and watching football on television. He liked caring for his yard and tinkering with mechanical things. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Danny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will remember him as a devoted family man, a dedicated soldier, and a good friend.
