Danny Blaine Horton (Seymour)'s Obituary
Danny Blaine Horton, of Diggins, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 23, 2013, with family by his side. He was born to William Clarence and Winnie Grace (Bristow) Horton, in Ash Flat, Arkansas, on November 11, 1947. At the time of his passing, he was 66 years, one month, and twelve days of age.
He married Carolyn Rhea Jones on October 16, 1966, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, and to this union a daughter and son were born. Danny proudly served his country for six years in the United States Marine Corps, including two tours in Vietnam. He would earn the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and Rifle Expert Badge before being honorably discharged in 1971. He and Carolyn then settled in Missouri in 1972.
Danny was an independent truck driver with CXI, company driver for The Daniel Company and Tyson Foods, Inc. He was a trainer for Tyson and had been awarded Driver of the Year for several years, for both companies. Danny was a member of the Seymour VFW. He loved to go to NASCAR with his son and to watch it on TV. He loved the freedom of the open road, but most of all he loved his family.
Danny was preceded in death by his son, Steven Wayne Horton; parents, William Clarence Horton and Winnie Grace Horton; and brother in-law, Billie Ray Nix
Danny leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Carolyn, of the home; daughter, Melissa (Horton) Dean and husband, Carl, of Diggins, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Danielle Horton, of Cave Springs, Missouri; six grandchildren, Mike Dean and wife, Amanda, of Seymour, Missouri; Travis Price and wife, Kelsey, of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; Carlissa Dean of Fordland, Missouri; Steven Horton, Danny Horton and Dawson Horton, of Cave Springs, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Clayton Dean, Olivia Dean and Karter Price; sister, Alice Nix of Ash Flat, Arkansas; brother, Leroy Orr and wife, Jane, also of Ash Flat, Arkansas; and brother, Ernest Horton and wife Linda, of Calico Rock, Arkansas; and many, many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the Horton Family respectfully requests memorial donations be made in Danny’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour.
