Darlene Harvey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Darlene Yvonne Harvey, daughter of Clifford S. and Lena Lucille Hess Smith, was born December 15, 1932, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, November 24, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, eleven months, and nine days.
On October 10, 1952, in the First Baptist Church in Lebanon, she was united in marriage to Gerald Gene Harvey, Sr., and to this union two sons were born.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Gerald, of the home; two sons, Gerald Harvey, Jr., and his wife, Sandy, and David Harvey, and his wife, Sherry, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two granddaughters, Shelena Tally, and her husband, Travis, and Savanna Shields, and her husband, Cody, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Silas, Raylan, Addicus, and Mia; two brothers, Clifton Smith, and his wife, Nancy, and Leroy Smith, and his wife, Pat, all of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Marilyn Allen, Mary Lou Patton, and her husband, Irvin, and Shirley Ledger, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School. She then worked at Cackle Hatchery for a few years. After she and Gerald were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their sons. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Darlene worked as a bookkeeper for Mid-America Dairy for forty-two years.
Darlene was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon for many years and was active in the church choir and their passion plays. She currently was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She enjoyed fishing and spending time at the Lake. She also liked to travel. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-five years.
