Darlene Sherrer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Marjorie Darlene Sherrer, daughter of Ivory and Luvena Jenkins Phillips, was born April 18, 1938, near Windyville, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, July 9, 2015, in her home, near Long Lane, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, two months, and twenty-two days.
On April 21, 1956, she was united in marriage to Ronald Eugene Sherrer, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald, on October 14, 2006; and a daughter, Debra E. Whipple.
Darlene is survived by a son, Doyle Sherrer, and his wife, Raya, of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandsons, Doyle Khristopher Sherrer, and his wife, Kathleen, of Stoutland, Missouri, Shaun Whipple, and his wife, Tracy, of Conway, Missouri, and Michael Whipple, of Buffalo, Missouri; a granddaughter, Krystal Newman, and her husband, John, of Fort Benning, Alabama; a great-grandson, Kacen Sherrer; a dear friend, Bill Knapp, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She lived most of her early years in the Windyville, Missouri area, and graduated from Windyville High School. She then began working as a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company in Lebanon, where she continued to be employed for twenty-six years. After she and Ronald were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their children. Darlene was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Darlene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and had attended Sleeper Pentecostal Church, Cedar Ridge Church, and Dallas County Community Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano for church and had sung in various gospel groups including The Skylighters.
In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, particularly for new clothes, and she loved watching and feeding hummingbirds. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Darlene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
