Darlene Wicker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Darlene Marie Wicker, daughter of William Henry and Alma Effie Thomas Bollan, was born May 5, 1930, in Palisade, Nebraska. She departed this life Friday, August 2, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, two months, and twenty-eight days.
On August 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Clarence “Bud” Wicker, and they shared almost seventy-two years before his passing on October 21, 2018.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Fred, Otto, Everett, and Billie Bollan; and five sisters, Freelove Fossen, LeNeve Ghezzi, Bonnie Knox, Lillie Little, and Mary Bollan.
Darlene is survived by several nieces and nephews, including, Teresa Schlegel, and her husband, John, of Paola, Kansas, Twyla Way, and her husband, Walter, of Olathe, Kansas, Kathy Bollan, of Huntington, Indiana, Joann Kirkwood and her husband, Tom, of the state of Kansas and several others; a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; special friends, Bonnie and Jim Rabe, and Brad and Debbie Keen; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Laclede County, Missouri, near the Prosperine community, and attended Laclede County Schools. After she and Bud were married, they made their home in Indiana, where Darlene worked in a grenade factory during the Korean War era. They then returned to Lebanon where Darlene was a devoted homemaker and also worked in the housekeeping department at Bennett Spring State Park. She later worked for the H. D. Lee Company for several years.
Darlene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Prosperine Baptist Church for many years. She later transferred her membership to Second Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activities included fishing and camping. She also liked collecting frog items. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed being with her nieces and nephews.
Darlene was a loving aunt, sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
