Darrell was born in Norwood and raised in the Hartville area. While Darrell was in high school, a Texas gal named Shirley came and swept him off his feet, and the couple was married shortly after. Darrell later started working highway construction and stayed with that job for thirty-eight years before retiring on the farm in 2003.
Darrell loved to fish, hunt, and talk on the phone for hours at a time. He was also a prankster, having pulled one on everyone he knew. He was also a family man, and his family meant everything to him. He was always happy and was the backbone of the entire family. If someone was down, Darrell would do his absolute best to make sure that person got right back up and continued on. He was a caring man and loved his family dearly. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and caring friend. We celebrate his wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories he helped create.
