Darrell Richard Decker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Darrell Richard Decker, son of Wilbur Lee and Lilly Devora Bennett Decker, was born April 18, 1944, near Orla, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, November 18, 2022, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, and seven months.
On April 27, 1973, he was united in marriage to Karrin Dickinson, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. He also had a son from a previous marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Louise Wilson Decker, James and Linda Woods Decker, Junior and Hazel Decker, and Ronnie and Donna Edwards Decker.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Karrin, of the home; two daughters, Stacy Lea Stuart, and her husband, Chris, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Lisa Decker, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Darrell Richard Decker, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Buckhorn, Missouri, and Darrin Decker, and his wife, Joy, of Covington, Washington; six grandchildren, Lindsey Decker, Dalton Decker, Dallas Jean Decker Grennan, and her husband, Ryan, Tristan Robinson and Emily Tappmeyer, Wyatt Robinson, and Jimi Novak; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Sam Decker, and his wife, Shirley Walters Decker, Lonnie Decker, and Ricky Decker; a sister, Susie Decker Wood; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lynchburg community and dropped out of school after the ninth grade in order to help support his family. He then made his home in Seattle, Washington, and worked as a route delivery person and later as a supervisor for the United Parcel Service for fifty-three years. After retiring, he, Karrin and the children moved back to the Lebanon, Missouri area.
Darrell was raised in the Southern Baptist faith.
He was a hard worker, liked working with his hands, and led by example. He loved cars, growing vegetables that he generously shared with his family and friends, bowling, and competitive arm wrestling. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made with them during his lifetime.
Burial will be in Little Creek Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society and donations may be left at the funeral home.
