Darrell Huntington (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Darrell Gene Huntington, son of Roy and Beulah Carr Huntington, was born August 12, 1933, in Kansas City, Kansas. He departed this life Sunday, October 27, 2013, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, two months, and fifteen days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Graceann, Marie, and Elsie; two sons, Charles and Darrold Dean Huntington; a brother, Lowell Huntington; and a sister, Juanita Darlene Huntington.
Darrell is survived by seven daughters, Kathy Ehrhardt, of Lenexa, Kansas, Cynthia Myers, Janny Lynn Rhoder, Cherry Bee Flynn, Rita Marlene Stubbs, and Soncera Weaver, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Gretta “Gypsy” Burke, of Stoutland, Missouri; two sons, Billy Gene Huntington, and David Matthew Huntington, both of Lebanon, Missouri; thirty-one grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Hunting, of Aurora, Colorado, and Boyd Huntington, of Kansas City, Kansas; a sister, Wilma Mortel, of the State of Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Kansas City, Kansas area, and continued to live there for most of his adult years, and then moved to Lebanon. Darrell serviced in the United States Army for a time. He worked at various cemeteries in the area and then later was employed by Big Surf Water Park, Sand Springs Resort, and at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Camdenton.
In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, singing, telling jokes, and watching sports of all kinds, particularly football. He especially loved family times and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Darrell was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
