Darrell Martin's Obituary
Darrell ?Jack? Martin, son of Elbert Bert and Sarah Matilda Dorris Martin, was born June 17, 1930 in Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 6, 2012 in Hartville Care Center, Hartville, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, six months, and nineteen days.
Jack was preceded in death by his son, Ronald D. Martin; his parents; one sister, and three brothers.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Carter and husband Sam of Fair Grove, Missouri; grandson, Sammy Joe Carter, Jr. and wife Melissa of Fair Grove, Missouri; great-granddaughters, Mariah and Meadow; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Jack was born and raised in the Hartville area and attended Indian Grove School. He moved to Springfield at a young age and went to work as a diesel mechanic, spending time working at Hardy?s and Montgomery GMC Truck Service and Sales.
Jack retired after a lifetime of work and returned to Hartville to make his home.
Jack never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. He always looked at life as the glass was half-full and you never saw him without a smile on his face.
In his spare time, Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games. Jack worked hard in his garden and was especially good at growing tomatoes.
Jack was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many memories he has created for his family and many friends.
