Darrell Smith (Hartville)'s Obituary
Darrell Lee Smith, son of Bud and Irene Beene Jones Smith, was born March 3, 1944, in Exeter, California. He departed this life Monday, January 25, 2016 in his home, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, ten months, and twenty-two days.
On November 24, 1983, Darrell was united in marriage to Sandra Darlene McBride, and together they have shared thirty-two years of marriage.
His father; a son, Steven Smith; and a brother, Don Jones, preceded Darrell in death.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; daughters, Sandy Cole and husband Tim, of Farmersville, California, Shelly Stroud and husband Brian, of Farmersville California, and Shawnda Smith, of Ivanhoe, California, Debbie Thomason and husband Joe, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Tina Franklin and husband Steve, of Lee Summit, Missouri; and a son, Leroy McBride of Visalia, California; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his mother, Irene Jones, of Visalia, California; a brother, Charles Smith and wife Carolyn, of Priest River, Idaho; a number of nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Darrell was born in California and spent the majority of his life there. He spent his life working as a Machinist for Waterman Industries, retiring after many years of service. They later moved to Vero Beach, Florida, where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his daughter, Debbie, and his granddaughters, Amber and Brandee.
Darrell and Sandra moved to Hartville in 2002 to make their home. He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Hartville First Baptist Church.
In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association may be made through the funeral home.
