Darren Rice's Obituary
Darren Edward Rice, son of Gilbert and Regina Kellison Rice, was born August 13, 1964, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, October 12, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of forty-five years, one month, and twenty-nine days. On May 19, 1983, he was united in marriage to Connie Sue Higgins, and they shared the last twenty-six years. His father preceded him in death. Darren is survived by his wife, Connie, of the home; three daughters, Amanda Roeder, and her husband, John, and Cherokee McDaniel, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Tasha Lorenz, of Marshfield, Missouri; a son, Rocky Higgins, of Strafford, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kylie Roeder, John Roeder, II, Mathew Brann, Michael Lorenz, and Kendal Harris; his mother, Regina Prater, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Plad, Missouri community, and then lived most of his life in the Lebanon area. Throughout the years, Darren enjoyed working on cars and had done auto body repair. Darren had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Community Baptist Church near Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing. He also liked going to auctions. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Darren was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and son, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 16, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Plad Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday evening 7-8:30pm under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established and donations may be made through the funeral home.
