Daryl C. Lamb (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Daryl Christian Lamb, age 79, of Bolivar, Missouri departed this life on Sunday night, September 23, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Daryl was born on March 20, 1933, the son of John E. Lamb and Helen Lucile (Larson) Lamb in Greenwood, Nebraska. He attended schools in Walton and Palmyra, Nebraska where he graduated from high school.
He attended the University of Nebraska and was a lifelong Cornhuskers fan. He served with the United States Army Artillery during the Korean War. On August 19, 1955 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Gess in Syracuse, Nebraska, to this union was born one son. Daryl then returned to his life-long career in the natural gas and petrochemical field. After 34 years with Northern Natural Gas Company and Northern Petrochemical Gas Company in Morris, Illinois, he retired to spend his later years in Bolivar, Missouri. He was a member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church, the Bolivar American Legion post #138, and the Springfield Elks Lodge post #409.
He enjoyed playing golf, pool, fishing, and bridge. Daryl was an accomplished ballroom dancer and in his younger years played basketball and baseball.
Daryl is preceded in death by his parents; John and Lucile Lamb, one sister; Iola Finke, one brother; Myron John Lamb, and an infant sister; Betty Jean Lamb.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; Phyllis Jean Lamb of the home, one son; Jay Andrew Lamb and his wife Tami Jo, two grandchildren; Kristin Danielle Stuckey and her husband Stephen, and Kathryn Jo “Katie” Lamb, all of Lincoln, Nebraska, one sister; Janice Gray of Nebraska City, Nebraska, along with many nieces, nephews, family, and friends, and his loving puppy Andy.
For nearly twelve years Daryl struggled with Parkinson’s Disease, memorial contributions may be made in Daryl’s honor to the Bolivar United Methodist Church or the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
