David Barr's Obituary
David Ray Barr, son of Alva Lavern and Nadine Jeannette (Johnson) Barr, was born November 12, 1964, in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, February 14, 2011, in his home, near Hartville, Missouri, at the age of forty-six years, three months and two days.
On June 3, 1995, he was united in marriage to Linda Kay Fisher, and they have shared the last fifteen years together.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Raymond and Mildred Barr; his maternal grandparents, Verden and Ina Ray Johnson; aunts, Wilma Myers and Mary June Lambie; uncles, Stanley and Lawrence Johnson; and a cousin, Bruce Garland.
David is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; his parents, Alva and Nadine Barr, of Hartville, MO; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elvin and Shirley Fisher, of Hartville, MO; a sister-in-law, Lanette Fisher, of Hartville, MO; aunts and uncles, Blanche Allcorn, of Cabool, MO, Carl Barr and wife, Freda, of Hartville, MO, Joella Garland and husband, L.D., of Hartville, MO, Leonard Barr of Pattonsburg, MO, and John Myers of Hartville, MO; a number of cousins, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Born in Springfield, he moved to the family farm in 1976. He attended and graduated from Hartville School and graduated with the Class of 1983. Throughout the years he had worked on the farm operation with his father, for the Missouri Highway Department and at Fisher Feed and Farm Supply. He was a 19 year member of the Hartville Fire & Rescue. His dedication to the Department was very much appreciated by area residents.
David professed his faith in Christ and was saved at an early age. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church and had lead singing in a number of churches in the area. Music and singing gave him great pleasure.
He was a member of the Hartville Lions Club and the Conway Flywheel and Toy Association. He had a passion for antiques, or as he stated it “anything with a heritage”. He enjoyed working on his tractor and driving it in parades. If it had wheels, he wanted to figure it out. In his spare time he liked to travel -- especially out west, mowing and caring for his home and the Little Creek Cemetery, and gardening. David was also a member of the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief and had assisted after natural disasters in Missouri and Texas.
David was a loving husband, a cherished son, and a treasured nephew and friend. David spent his weekdays lovingly caring for his father and evenings doing more checking and caring for his father and mother. He took them to doctor’s appointments, made sure that directions were followed, and helped them in all of their activities including shopping. If his father went, it was necessary for David to go also, to assist. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, and will live on in our hearts forever.
Funeral services for David will be held at 2:00 pm Friday February 18, 2011 in the Little Creek Baptist Church, North of Hartville, Missouri.
Visitation will be Thursday evening February 17, 7:00-8:30 pm in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri.
Memorials to the family or the donors choice may be left at the Funeral-Home.
