David Bunch's Obituary
David John Bunch, son of Richard J. and Janice M. Bartle Bunch, was born February 9, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life Sunday, July 20, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-four years, five months, and eleven days. Early in his life, he was united in marriage to Barbara Bates, and to this union two daughters, Lisa and Jennifer, were born. On October 21, 1978, he was united in marriage to Jane F. Talbott, and to this union two daughters, Christina and Sarah, were born. His mother preceded him in death. David is survived by his loving wife of almost thirty years, Jane, of the home; four daughters, Lisa Bunch, and Jennifer Woodside, and her husband, Jeff, all of Hannibal, Missouri, Christina Bunch, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Sarah Holloway, and her husband, Jared, of Richland, Missouri; eight grandchildren; his father, Richard Bunch, of Quincy, Illinois; a brother, Jeffrey Bunch, and his wife, Kelle, of Quincy, Illinois; a sister, Connie Pike, and her husband, Ken, of Columbia, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and then moved with his family to Hannibal, Missouri, where he graduated from Hannibal High School. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force from June 21, 1972 until being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on June 18, 1976. After he and Jane were married, they made their home in Hannibal and Springfield, Missouri before moving to Plant City, Florida, where they lived for sixteen years. In 2003, the family moved to Lebanon, Missouri and made their home. Throughout his life, David worked as a truck driver, and after moving to Lebanon, he had driven for Tracker Marine for four years. David made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church in Florida for several years. Since moving to Lebanon, he had been an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He served as a Prayer Partner leader, both in Florida and in Lebanon, and was a messenger to the Florida Baptist Convention while there, and the Missouri Baptist Convention. He had also served as a messenger for the Laclede County Baptist Association meetings. He greatly enjoyed fishing and had participated in fishing tournaments with the Florida Pond Jumpers Association. He liked being outdoors, going to Maramec Spring, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them camping, and teaching them to shoot and fish. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Lebanon. Burial will be in Veteran's Park at Mt. Rose Mmeorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 7-8:30 P.M at the funeral home under the direction of Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the PSI Foundation or the Curry Cancer Center and may be made through the Funeral Home. Return to top
