David E. Burgess (Lebanon)'s Obituary
David Ernest Burgess, son of Kerman and Polly West Burgess, was born December 14, 1956, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, April 6, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-one years, three months, and twenty-two days.
On July 25, 1997, he was united in marriage to Terri Sue Cockriel, and they shared the last twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Teddy Burgess.
David is survived by his wife, Terri, of the home; two step-sons, Patrick Andrew Smith, of Clinton, Missouri, and Joseph Brian Smith, of Houston, Texas; a grandson, Brenton; three step-grandchildren, Amanda, Logan, and Anthony; a brother, Jack Burgess, of Sleeper, Missouri; a sister, Janice Burgess, of Richland, Missouri; One nieces and four nephews; Also special friends; Janie and Roy Marshall; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon and Laclede County area, and graduated from Stoutland High School. He had worked as an electrical lineman and foreman and was recently employed by Consolidated Electric Corporation in Lebanon, Missouri.
David had his own personal relationship with God.
He was the first elected fire chief of the Sleeper Fire Department. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing pool and foosball, and working in his garden. He had a quiet personality but a big laugh.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
A memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
