David D Marcum (Lebanon)'s Obituary
David Dwayne “Tommy” Marcum, son of John Elmer and Nola Mae Jones Marcum, was born May 9, 1954, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, June 25, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-six years, one month, and sixteen days.
On February 12, 1981, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Peterson, and together they shared the last twenty-nine years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Dale and Don Nelson.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of the home; a daughter, Rebecca Marcum, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Jacob Marcum, of Alton, Missouri, and Jonathan Luke Marcum, of Liberty, Missouri; a grandson, Justin Coffey; seven brothers, Doug Williams, of the State of Texas, Dencil Williams, and his wife, Leva, of Lebanon, Missouri, Danny Williams, and his wife, Sally, of Platte City, Missouri, Darren Williams, of Nixa, Missouri, Leslie Barnett, of Grovespring, Missouri, Ricky Barnett, and his wife, Debbie, of Falcon, Missouri, and J. E. Barnett, and his wife, Cathy, of Lebanon, Missouri; five sisters, Diana Williams, and her husband, Jerry, Donnetta Bowling, and her husband, Mike, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Debbie Hollandsworth, and her husband, Steve, of Montreal, Missouri, Teresa Starr, and Ellen Hopkins, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1972. He continued to make his home in the Lebanon area for the next several years and began working as a carpenter. He later worked on an oil rig for some time. After he and Mary were married, they made their home in the western Rocky Mountains in Colorado until moving to the Alton, Missouri area in 1986, where they finished raised their family.
Tom changed his life forever by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on March 29, 1992, and served his Lord faithfully until his death. He was a member of the Alton Freewill Baptist Church.
He mentored many young men by serving as a church camp sponsor and as a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 102, for twelve years. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing in creeks and lakes. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his children and grandson.
Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a patient and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the memories he made for them throughout the years.
