Dave had Twenty-Two nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and numerous cousins, along with his special friend Diana Lowrance. Dave is proceeded in death by his brother Daniel Hutton (Oct 2008) his father and grandparents.
With the urging of his cousin, Steve Dunn, he began his radio career April 13, 1979 in Mansfield at KTRI when the format changed to southern gospel in August 1985, Dave found his true passion. He moved on to KCMG in 1992, in February 1996 he moved to KTTK where he remained for 18 years until he suffered a massive stroke January 5th 2014.
In September 1980, Dave met Kathy Bungard while working at KTRI radio station and they were married on July 24, 1982. Dave never forgot his and Kathy’s anniversary, in fact; he never forgot their first date anniversary, (9-26) many times returning to Marshfield Pizza Hut.
Dave was saved in 1981. He also served as church treasurer for the Mountain Grove Church of the Nazarene, when they moved to Lebanon in 1997, he became the treasurer for the Lebanon Church of the Nazarene for 8+years and had served as the Lifepoint treasurer since the founding in 2010 until his stroke. Whatever his church needed him to do, he did, from janitor to SS teacher, Bible School teacher and door greeter. He also served as the Lebanon Band Parent treasurer for 4 years. Dave had a true heart for serving.
In 2011 Dave was awarded the “Golden Mic” award from the Singing News Magazine, also in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Dave was also nominated as the Top 5 Southern Gospel DJ’S FOR SMALL MARKET NATIONWIDE. He was always one to be content to stay in the background, letting others shine instead. Dave didn’t really like to travel much, getting him out of Wright County was huge, “It’ll always be home” he would say.
Dave’s greatest enjoyment after his stroke was time spent with the grandkids, getting “Donut Kisses” from Deklan on Sundays, singing “You Are My Sunshine” with Lydia and Elli scarring him then giggling and of course snuggles with Audrey. He enjoyed the times when they would “Shave Grandpa”. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother and friend. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He fought the good fight……He Kept His Faith!
Dave’s “radio voice” has been silenced, but his legacy will live on in the lives and hearts of his children and grandchildren.
Memorials have been established to "Out of Ashes" Missions, and can be left at Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
