David Shockley (Lebanon)'s Obituary
David Louis Shockley, son of Cecil Fred and Hattie Loree Allen Shockley, was born May 13, 1948, in Conway, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, December 25, 2011, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-three years, seven months, and twelve days.
On February 18, 1966, he was united in marriage to Gloria Gayle Stroup, and to this union two sons were born.
His parents preceded him in death.
David is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Gayle, of the home; two sons, Charles Drew Shockley, of Lebanon, Missouri, and David Aaron Shockley, of Conway, Missouri; five grandchildren; three brothers, Ron Shockley, and his wife, Judy, of Conway, Missouri, Jerry Shockley, and his wife, Norma, of Fair Grove, Missouri, and Charles Shockley, and his wife, Debbie, of Conway, Missouri; four sister, Shirley Buck, and her husband, Carl, of Conway, Missouri, Mary Jean Lowrance, of Kansas City, Missouri, Martha Cologna, and her husband, Charley, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Sue Vincent, and her husband, Bert, of Conway, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Conway, Missouri community, and attended Conway Schools. After he and Gayle were married, they made their home in Conway, until 1980, when they moved to the Long Lane area. David was a maintenance mechanic for the H. D. Lee Company in Lebanon for over thirty years, before retiring.
David was a member of the Conway Catholic Church.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to garage sales, and grilling meals for the family. He always liked raising dogs, and particularly enjoyed his most recent companion Boxer, “Rowdy”. He possessed a dry sense of humor and loved to laugh. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them throughout the years.
