David L. Steffe (Mansfield)'s Obituary
David L. Steffe, son of Floyd Aaron and Jesse Carmen King Steffe, was born March 12, 1934 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life on July 8, 2015 in Rocky Ridge Manor, Mansfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years, three months and twenty-six days.
On November 30, 1952, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Padgett from West Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Janette Steffe. Dave is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; daughter, Nancy Conley and husband, Sean of Springfield, Missouri; son, David Steffe and wife, Beth of Mansfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Crystal Coday of Mansfield, Missouri ,Austin Steffe and Samantha Fairchild of Macomb, Mis
souri, Daison Steffe of Mansfield, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Lilly Coday, Jace France, David Justin Steffe and Elizabeth Ann Steffe; other relatives and many, many friends.
He was born in Springfield and lived his entire life in Mansfield. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1952 and attended Southwest Missouri State College. He later entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska when Alaska became the 49th state of the Union.
After serving in the Army, he and Carolyn returned to Mansfield where he owned and operated the Mansfield Drug Store on the square for 10 years. He later worked for Hutchen’s Industries for 26 years, retiring in 1996. Dave was the youngest member of the Farthest North Shrine in Alaska during his time in the military there. He was a 50 year member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #543 A.F & A.M., Valley of Joplin, Scottish Rite and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine

In his spare time, Dave was quite the cook an liked to hunt. But what he loved the most was going to Destin, Florida to deep sea fish. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing scratchers. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will cherish the many good times we had together throughout the years. Military honors will be given Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home parking lot.
