On January 1, 1955, he was united in marriage to June Katherine “Kay” Coggburn, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Buster and Clyde; and five sisters, Frieda, Reva, Almeda, Willowdean, and Lenice.
David is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Kay, of the home in Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Susan Kay Troutman Hall, and her husband, Michael, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Charles David “Chuck” Troutman, and his wife, Vickey, of Edmond, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Lindsay, Cody, and Jessie; a great-grandson, Cash; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Arkansas and graduated from high school. He then worked his way through two years of college at the School of the Ozarks before joining the military at a young age. He served his country faithfully first in the United States Navy and then transferred to the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Vietnam, serving three tours of duty, and in England, and retired in 1973, from Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, after twenty-two years of military service. He, Kay and the family then made their home in Lebanon, Missouri. David owned and operated Treasure Trove Antiques for forty years and also served on the Lebanon City Council for twelve years. He officially retired in 2017.
David had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for several years.
He also was a member and past president of the Lebanon Lion’s Club. Although antiquing was his passion, he also was a very good bowler, playing on various league teams through the years. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will remember him as a devoted family man, a fair and honest businessman, and a patriotic citizen who was proud of his military service and his work for the city of Lebanon.
A memorial to Wounded Warriors has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
