David Roy Wood (Lebanon)'s Obituary
David Roy Wood, son of Leo and Faye M. Davis Wood, was born July 6, 1945, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, November 12, 2019, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years, four months, and seven days.
On July 21, 1967, he was united in marriage to Ethel Lina Henderson, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Misty; and a brother, Lee Wood.
David is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Ethel, of the home; a daughter Kelly Durbin, and her husband, Russell, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Roy Wood, and his wife, Lenora, and Daniel Wood, and his wife, Lisa, all of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Riggle, of Asher, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School. He then joined the military and faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps for several years. Once he was honorably discharged, he returned to Lebanon, and soon he and Ethel were married. They made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their children. David worked for Appleby Boats which later became Lowe Boats and was a truck driver/boat hauler for a number of years.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked fishing, and pitching horseshoes. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and liked listening to Bluegrass music. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially liked having time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
