Delbert Barber (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Delbert Lee Barber was born and raised in the Bennett Spring, Lebanon, MO area of Laclede County. On November 1st, 1953 he married Anna Jane Lowery at the Bennett Spring Church of God, to this union two children were born. Eugene Barber and Donna (Barber) Sufficool.
Delbert worked for the Missouri State Parks for 11 years. In 1964 they moved to Pumpkin Center near Buffalo, Missouri at the “Old” junction of 64 and 73 highways. For 6 years Delbert and Jane managed Larry’s Sporting Goods then Gas, Grocery, Bait and Tackle. For the next 27 years Delbert worked at the Buffalo Auto Salvage for Roy and Shirley Caswell. One of Delbert’s favorite things was to go fishing. They camped as a family at Floyd Hollmans on the Niangua River. After retirement he got a lake fishing boat and went fishing 4 or 5 times a week or more. One of his favorite fishing trips was to Canada with Kenny and Evelyn McDonalds. Delbert also enjoyed mowing lawns and working on mowers. Next to fishing, Delbert loved time spent with his family and friends, especially time spent with the grandsons. He loved fish fries, mom’s tacos, and fried potatoes. Last but not least he loved, loved, loved to aggravate, give a knuckle rub, pick, and tell a good joke.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents Harry and May (Bloomfield) Barber, his brother Alvin Barber, his sisters Nadine Barber (Lemon) and Pat Barber (Brownsward), mother-in-law Ora (Grannie) Lowery, and grandson Bryan Barber.
He is survived by his wife Anna Jane Barber; two sisters Loretta Helton of Plato, Missouri, Nora and husband Joe Thompson of Lebanon, Missouri, one brother Curtis and wife Iras Barber of Buffalo, Missouri, one son Eugene Barber, one daughter Donna and husband David Sufficool, three grandsons Brad and wife Mary Webb, Quinton Webb and Austin Barber all of Buffalo, Missouri, four great-grandkids Lily Allen, Bradyn Webb, Mia and Audrie Barber.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo with Becky Robison officiating. Escorts will be Brad Webb, Roger Webb, Quinton Webb, Austin Barber, Kevin Barber, and Alvin Barber. Interment will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lowery-Franklin Cemetery.
