Delbert Doing's Obituary
Delbert Wayne “Deb” Doing, son of Rubin Elmer and Emma Kathner Doing, was born May 2, 1944, near Morgan, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, September 17, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-three years, four months, and fifteen days. On January 11, 1969, he was united in marriage to Patti Ann Chandler, and to this union three daughters and one son were born. His parents, and a brother, Robert Doing, preceded him in death. Deb is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Patti, of the home; three daughters, Heather Ireton, and her husband, Steve, of Conway, Missouri, Lesley Johnson, and her husband, Shane, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Erin Burnette, and her husband, Shawn, of Clarksville, Tennessee; a son, Matt Doing, of Conway, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Shelby, Haden, Allison, Caleb, Seth, Christopher, and Emma; two brothers, John Doing, of Ballwin, Missouri, and Dave Doing, and his wife, Lela, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Nadine Barrett, Neva Draheim, and her husband, Carl, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Maggie Massey, of Conway, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Morgan community, and graduated from Conway High School. After he and Patti were married, they made their home in Laclede County and lovingly raised their family. For a few years Deb worked on a farm and then drove a feed truck. He was employed by Herman Lumber Company in Lebanon for nineteen years and later worked for the Missouri Conservation Department until his health began to fail. Throughout the years, he also kept busy doing carpentry work for family and friends. Deb had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Phillipsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities included riding and breaking horses, coon hunting, and fishing. He also liked playing baseball and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Deb was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007, in the Phillipsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Ozark Community Chapel Cemetery, near Morgan, Missouri. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials may be made through the funeral home.
