Deliah "DeDe" L. Decker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Deliah Lee Decker, daughter of James and Myrtle Rountree Buell, was born December 11, 1948, near Kansas City, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, April 26, 2021, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, four months, and fifteen days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Decker; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Rueger; and two sisters, Diana Riddell, and Sandy Rountree.
“DeDe”, as she was called by her family and friends, is survived by her significant other, Leonard Sien, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Christopher Decker, and Randy Sien, both of Lebanon, Missouri; four step-daughters, Leasha Pulley, of Sedalia, Missouri, Teresa Knight, of Lebanon, Missouri, Laura O’Bannon, and her husband, Tony, of Wagner, Oklahoma and Brenda Grier, of Lebanon, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Darrell Riddell, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Eddie Riddell, of the State of Arkansas, Danny Rountree, and Mike Rountree, both of Kansas City, Missouri; four sisters, Patty Jennings, of Independence, Missouri, Carol Collins, Doris Wallace, both of Independence, Missouri, and Margie Phillips, of Bryant, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and received her education there. While in her early twenties, she moved to the Lebanon, Missouri area and made her home. She began working for Bell Restaurant and then went to work as a dietician aide at Wallace Hospital. Through the years, she continued in that position when the hospital changed to Breech Medical Center, St. John’s Hospital and then to Mercy Hospital. She worked for the hospital for a total of forty-four years before retiring.
DeDe had a deep faith and loved caring for others.
She liked being outdoors and enjoyed fishing. She loved animals, particularly cats and her “wiener” dogs. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Her family was always the center of her life and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deliah was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, significant other and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family will hold tight to the wonderful memories she made for them.
Funeral services for Deliah Decker will be Friday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with Rev. Allen Reeves officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 29 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Dotson Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Curry Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital in Lebanon.
