Delna J Smith (Seymour)'s Obituary
Delna Jane Smith, age 74, passed away Friday January 20, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri following a short illness. She was born April 26, 1942 in Clovis, New Mexico to Bertram Russell Kirk and Mary Ellen (Hawkins) Kirk. She spent some of her childhood in Allison, Colorado before moving to the Fordland area in the 1950’s. She was united in marriage to William Gould Smith on August 21, 1965 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania and to this union one son was born.
Delna graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in vocational Home Economics which she used in her field of work teaching. She was of the Christian faith and during her life had enjoyed horseback riding, cooking and all things outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William of the home; a son and daughter-in-law William Sean & Jennifer Smith of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two grandchildren William Garrett Smith and Ellie Rose Smith also of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a brother and sister-in-law James & Jan Kirk of St. Louis, Missouri as well as nieces and nephews.
