Delores Y. Galvan (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Delores Yvonne Galvan, daughter of Jennings Bryan and Hazel V. Dozier Lipe, was born September 19, 1923, in Los Angeles, California. She departed this life Thursday, February 12, 2015, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, four months, and twenty-four days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William H. Shapley, and Joseph P. Galvan; four granddaughters, Jamie L. Owen, Sally S. Mezzacapa, Jeri A. Birren, and Gloria Birren; two brothers, Robert and Buford M. Lipe; and a sister, Betty L. Rogers.
Delores is survived by four daughters, Susan Cammarano, and her husband, Joe, of North Port, Florida, Karen Strange-Hess, and her husband, Ernie, of Montrose, California, Dana Singh, of Van Nuys, California, and Laura Norris, and her husband, Darrell, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Kenneth Carpenter, Jr., of the State of Illinois; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly, of the State of California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in California, and then made her home there for most of her life. Delores was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family throughout the years. For the last twenty-six years, she had made her home with her daughter, Laura, in Lebanon, Missouri.
She loved music, played the organ by ear, and especially liked listening to Big Band and Broadway selections. She enjoyed doing craft projects, crocheting, and working puzzles. She was a loyal Republican and liked watching Fox News on television. She had a very giving heart, and made donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren.
Delores was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-one years.
Memorial donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation may be left at the funeral home.
