DeLores Menchaca (Lebanon)'s Obituary
DeLores “Dean” Menchaca, daughter of Joseph W. and Mary A. Brown Lindsay, was born December 13, 1929, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, September 19, 2011, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, nine months, and six days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alfred, Victor, and Eugene Lindsay; and two sisters, Juanita Weaver, and Laveta Lindsay.
DeLores is survived by a daughter, Diane Brame, of Valley Springs, California; two granddaughters, Molly and Hannah Brame, of Santa Cruz, California; two sisters, Lucille Sherrer, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Helen Bates, and her husband, Leonard, of Memphis, Tennessee; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon community, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1949. She then lived in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area for a short time before she began traveling all over the world while her husband was serving in the military. For most of her adult years, she lived in California, and then returned to Lebanon in 1984, to be with her mother. She worked as a nurse’s assistant at Christian Health Care North for several years.
DeLores was a very private person with a caring, warm heart. She had many friends and was a positive influence on their lives. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and baking.
DeLores was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
