Delores Powers' Obituary
Delores Joan Powers, daughter of Leonard and Beulah Minerva (Liveringhouse) Nielsen, was born March 9, 1934 in Wayne, Nebraska. She departed this life Sunday, August 30, 2009 in Glenwood Healthcare, in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, five months, and twenty-one days.
On April 5, 1953 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Earl Powers and to this union one daughter and four sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, on May 4, 2008; her parents; a son, Alan Powers; a grandson, Matthew Green; and a sister, Lavonne Kline.
Dee is survived by three sons, Jerry Powers, and his wife, Jennifer, and Kenneth Powers, and his wife, Debra, all of Denver, Colorado, and Randal Powers, and his fiancée, Margaret Henry, of Seymour, Missouri; a daughter, Tammy Cornelison, and her husband, Rick, of Seymour, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Lena, Ammie, Jessica, Michael, Steven, Stephanie, Justin, Wyatt, Dakota and Noah; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Don Nielsen, of Denver, Colorado, Derald Nielsen, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Leroy Nielsen, of Littleton, Colorado; a sister, Virginia Means, of the state of Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She was born and grew up in Nebraska. She then moved to California where she met and married Lawrence, while he was serving in the military they lived in Connecticut and Colorado before making their home in the Seymour, Missouri area.
Dee had made her profession of belief in Christ and was of the Methodist faith. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, gardening, going to garage sales and loved spending time with family.
Dee was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 3, 2009 in Holman-Howe Chapel, of Seymour, Missouri with burial in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, in Springfield, Missouri at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be 7:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home.
