Delores Shaddy's Obituary
Delores Faye Shaddy, daughter of Charles Everett and Ollie Jane (Robertson) Hightower, was born November 7, 1921, on the family farm near Grovespring, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, October 14, 2010, in Hartville Care Center, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, eleven months and seven days. On January 13, 1938, she was united in marriage to Gailon D. Shaddy, who preceded her in death on August 6, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dalton and Clifford Hightower; and two sisters, Dulcia Childers and Grace Kelsay. Delores is survived by her daughter, Linda Shaddy, of Grovespring, Missouri; a special nephew, Lloyd Hightower, of Reed Springs, Missouri; three sisters, Edna Burris, of Hartville, Missouri, Glennis Hogan, of Grovespring, Missouri, and Betty Gray, of Alamosa, Colorado; three brothers, Frank Hightower, of Hartville, Missouri, Ezra Hightower and Herman Hightower, both of Grovespring, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. Born and raised near Grovespring, she attended the Luallen School. After being married to Gailon, they began their life journey and continued to live in Wright County. Besides being a homemaker, she was a cook at the Grovespring School for many years. Delores had professed her faith in Christ, and was a member of the Elk Creek Baptist Church. Her family was very important to her and she greatly enjoyed cooking for them. She was always making sure anyone around her was well fed. In her spare time she enjoyed going to Senior Citizens to visit and play cards. She found pleasure in crocheting, doing puzzle books, reading, gardening, and growing flowers. Delores was a loving wife and mother, and a cherished Aunt Lorsey, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and truly missed. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments, and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and many dear friends.
