Deloris Shaddy (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Deloris Eileen Shaddy passed away on October 19, 2015, not long after celebrating her 97th birthday, at her home near Grovespring, Missouri. Deloris was the daughter of Lucien Dewey and Blanche Newton Allen, and after her mother’s passing in 1922, she was raised by her grandparents, Henry and Nora Allen.
On May 23, 1937, she was united in marriage to William Wilson Shaddy, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilson, in November in 1999; her son, James Henry Shaddy; a sister, Dolyn Allen Calame; and her half-sister, Marjorie Westmoreland.
Deloris is survived by her daughter, Jane Shaddy Wiborg, and her son-in-law, Lloyd, of Mill Valley, California; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Stout Shaddy, of Ozark, Missouri; three half-sisters, Marlyn Sue Alexander, Marcella Whittaker, and Melba Ivie; several nieces and nephews; a number of cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born near Loring, and was raised in the Grovespring community. After she and Wilson were married they soon made their home on their farm, near Grovespring. For a number of years, they made their home in Oklahoma, where Deloris was a devoted homemaker and also worked as a beautician for a few years. In June of 1978, they returned to the family farm where she and Wilson shared the last of their sixty-two years together.
Deloris made her profession of faith in Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for a number of years.
During their retirement years, Deloris and Wilson did some farming and also enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed gardening, reading, clogging, singing, and playing the piano, organ and guitar, and watching wild life from her windows. She also liked exercising with her TOPS pals. During her final years, she was very grateful for the kindness and care given her by her neighbors Angela Collison, Mary, Kelsey and Scot Stephenson, and also her friend Priscilla Mullican. All of which enabled her to complete her final journey from her home.
Deloris was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-seven years.
Memorial donations may be made to Shaddy Cemetery or Hospice Compassus, and left at the funeral home.
