Dencil Sherrer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Dencil Edward Sherrer, son of Van Oscar and Alma A. Knapp Sherrer, was born September 19, 1941, in Sleeper, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, August 11, 2017, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, ten months, and twenty-three days.
On October 7, 1977, he was united in marriage to Sarah Myers, and they shared the last thirty-nine years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sue Katherine Sherrer; five brothers, Oscar, James, Adrian, Ronny, and Glenn Sherrer; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Sherrer.
Dencil is survived by his wife, Sarah, of the home; a daughter, Lisa K. Sloan, and her significant other, Mike Korthals, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Randy Berry, and his wife, Lucy, and Kevan Berry, and his wife, Adele, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson that Dencil and Sarah raised, Charlie Berry, and his wife, Kelsey, of Lebanon, Missouri; four other grandchildren, Jonathan, Logan, Christine, and her husband, Michael, and Mecky; four great-grandchildren, Madalynn, Randy, Adelena, and Gabe; a brother, Keith Sherrer, and his wife, Wilma, of Stoutland, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Ethel, Esther, and Doris Sherrer; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Sleeper community, and lived most of his life in the same place where he was born. He had worked for Bass Tracker in Lebanon for thirty-seven years before retiring.
Dencil had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Grace Calvary Church.
He enjoyed being outdoors where he liked to hunt, fish, cut wood, and work in his garden with his mule. His family was the center of his world and he enjoyed sitting in his rocking chair and watching the kids. He was a “down-to-earth” kind of man.
Dencil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his seventy-five years.
Memorials to the Gideon Bible Ministry.
