Dennis G. Jepson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Dennis Gilbert Jepson, son of Gilbert and Jennifer Laird Jepson, was born January 22, 1943, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He departed this life Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in Decatur, Alabama, at the age of sixty-eight years, ten months, and fourteen days.
On May 2, 1969, he was united in marriage to Shirley June Pelton, and together they shared the last forty-two years.
His parents preceded him in death.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, of the home; four daughters, Brenda Chutas, of Colebrook, Ohio, Patricia Nicholes, and Betty Tranchida, both of Geneva, Ohio, and Justine Gray, of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Roger Peck, of Stuttgart, Germany, and Greg Jepson, of Albany, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Larry Jepson, of Kearney, Nebraska, Calvin Jepson, of Cottonwood, California, Gilbert Jepson, of Warren, Ohio, and Norman Jepson, of Ashtabula, Ohio; a sister, Jennifer Pilkington, of Columbus, Ohio; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, and graduated from Ashtabula High School in the Class of 1961. He then graduated from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina in 1965. He was an officer in the Ohio National Guard, and was a long standing certified member of Amer Production and Inventory Control Society. After he and Shirley were married, they made their home in various places where Dennis was employed and lovingly raised their family. Throughout the years, Dennis had worked as materials manager for Rockwell International, both in Ashtabula, Ohio, and Chattanooga, Tennessee, and for AVCO Aerostructures, in Nashville, Tennessee. He was plant manager of ITT Thompson in Valdosta, Georgia, and materials manager for Textron/Davidson in Americus, Georgia. He and Shirley moved to Lebanon, Missouri in July of 1997, and Dennis began working for Emerson Climate Technologies (Copeland Corporation). He officially retired in March of 2006, but had been called back to work for Emerson and was currently working in Decatur, Alabama.
Dennis was affiliated with the Methodist faith.
In spite of being a workaholic, he did enjoy bowling and working in his garden when he had time.
Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends.
