Maxine Wheeler
DJ was my first cousin, we grew up together, there was a time he lived with us along with his half sister and brother Jack, we were poor but didn’t know it, that four room house with a path out back, was full but we still had fun times.
I remember him coming to visit wearing his army uniform, he was a handsome gentle giant, when he was in Vietnam we wrote regularly, he even got some of his friends to write me. Lol. That didn’t go well.
He could tell some good stories about his grandkids.
Anytime I invited them to a family event they always showed up with a gift.
He was given some hard knocks but never complained, he will be missed.
