Denzl Allen Matney Sr. (Seymour)'s Obituary
Denzl Allen Matney, Sr., son of Earnest and Florence (Coville) Matney, was born on April 25, 1952 in Douglas County, Missouri. He departed this life on Thursday, December 26, 2013 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty-one years, eight months and one day.
On January 1, 1982 he was united in marriage to Marie E. Cutbirth and to this union one son was born. Denzl was a family man, who loved them well and taught his family by example.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sue (Kelly) Matney and their infant daughter; his second wife of twenty-two years, Marie and his step-daughter Sherry Delcour; his parents; his brothers Louis Matney and Terry Matney; his sister Rose Matney and his nephew Bradley Griffith.
Denzl is survived by his son, Denzl Matney, Jr. of Seymour, Missouri and a step-son Terry Delcour of Cabool, Missouri; his sisters, June Thulin and Duane of Seymour, Missouri, Mae Keilbarth of Springfield, Missouri, Kay Matney of Goodhope, Missouri, and Martha Griffith of Seymour, Missouri; his brothers, William Matney and wife Deana Matney of Mansfield, Missouri, Pete Matney and wife Sherry of Seymour, Missouri, Albert Matney and wife Martha of Mansfield, Missouri, Harry Matney and wife Robin of Seymour, Missouri and Larry Matney of Lebanon, Missouri; his sister-in-law Kathy Matney; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other dear family and friends.
Born and raised in the Ozark hills, Denzl loved the outdoors. Hillbilly was not a negative term and he enjoyed his heritage. Any kind of old truck, farm equipment or a big rig, Denzl was ready to roll. He spent his life traveling on the open road, but was at his happiest here with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and a good ole’ fish fry with his family and friends.
Denzl Matney, Sr. a loving father, brother and uncle and a true friend. He stood for the things he believed in and took pride in his family. We will truly miss his sense of humor and his contagious smile. We celebrate his life and the passion in which he lived it.
