She departed this life Tuesday, August 5, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years, nine months, and six days. On July 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to C.D. Spires, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. Her father preceded her in death. Diana is survived by a daughter, Dawn Sarsten, and her husband, Ron, of Sandy, Oregon; two sons, Douglas Dwayne Spires, and his wife, Lisa, of Shawnee, Kansas, and Derek Spires, and his wife, Nora, of Maricopa, Arizona; eight grandchildren; her mother, Juanita Pearson, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Barbara Ramsdell, of Lebanon, Missouri; a niece, Kathy Westphal, of Seattle, Washington; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas where she graduated from high school. She then made her home in Orange County, California, where she met and married C.D. and they began raising their children. For the next twenty-six years, the family lived in various locations while C.D. was serving in the military. Eventually, Diana made her home in the Portland, Oregon area, which she thought of as home, before moving to Lebanon, Missouri about two years ago. Throughout her life, she was a devoted homemaker to her family, and also worked at different jobs outside of the home. Diana had made her profession of faith in Christ and was an active member of the Sandy Baptist Church, in Sandy, Oregon. She was a very caring person who enjoyed helping others, especially children. In her spare time she liked doing counted cross stitch projects and sewing Christmas ornaments. She also had a great fondness for animals. Her family was very important to her and she greatly enjoyed spending time with them. Diana was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend.
