Diana L. York (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Diana Lynn York, daughter of Rev. James Bench and Kathleen Hammock Bench, was born September 7, 1954, in Richland, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, November 13, 2020, in Boone County Health Care Center, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of sixty-six years, two months, and seven days.
On July, 5, 1981, she was united in marriage to Clifford John York, and they shared thirty-nine years before his passing on October 31, 2020.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Diana is survived by two daughters, Leah Barlow, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Melissa Smith, and her husband, Scott, of Columbia, Missouri; two grandchildren, Terry and Jayden; a brother, Jimmy Bench, and his wife, Bobbie, of Richland, Missouri; two sisters, Teresa Williams, and her husband, David, of Richland, Missouri, and Gail Knight of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Richland, Missouri area and graduated from Richland High School. After she and John were married, they made their home near Richland, and lovingly raised their family. Diana was a devoted homemaker to her husband and a loving mother to her daughters. She became an ordained minister and was the author of a published book entitled, Miracles Now.
Diana followed the Pentecostal faith and was a minister. Her faith was central in her life and in the life of her husband. She Had the Widow’s Might Ministry for widows of the church and shut-ins. She also taught Sunday school for a number of years.
She was very artistic and was extremely gifted at drawing comic strips. She was a great cook and believed in feeding anyone that came to visit in their home. She never met a stranger and was a big hugger. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren.
Diana was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
