Diane Wood's Obituary
Diane Yvonne Wood, daughter of James Melvin and Katie “Kay” Salina Johnson Bridgeman, was born January 24, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia. She departed this life Sunday, March 23, 2008, in Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, one month, and twenty-nine days. On October 29, 1966, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Wood, and to this union three daughters were born. Her parents preceded her in death. Diane is survived by her loving husband of forty-one years, Ken, of the home; three daughters, Chris Swartzlander, and her husband, Andy, of Eldridge, Missouri, Cheryl Taylor, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Laura O’Shea, of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Timothy, Michael, and Stephanie O’Shea, Amanda Rogers, Casey Lewis, Cody and Justin Swartzlander, Anthony and Ashley Owens, and Jennifer Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Dameon Jacoby, Cory, Jayden, and Skylar Rogers; a brother, Otis Bridgeman, of the State of Illinois; a sister, Ellen Trammell, of Richmond, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Virginia and then moved with her family to Illinois when she was three years old. After attending high school, she continued to make her home in Illinois, where she met and married Ken. They lived in Illinois for several years before moving to Eldridge, Missouri in 1980, where they lovingly raised their daughters. Throughout the years, in addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Diane also worked as a housekeeper for several local businesses and families. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, writing poetry, and working on graphic design websites. She was a hard worker, enjoyed the comforts of her home, and was always more concerned about others. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Diane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will treasure the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in Allee Memorial Gardens.
