Dianna Marie Steinhauer (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Dianna Marie Steinhauer, was born October 25, 1944 in San Jose, California to Henry "Dutch" Steinhauer and Mary Ann Steinhauer. She had the most amazing, music filled, hippie life and would happily tell anyone of her stories.
Dianna would go to concerts in San Francisco at "The Avalon" and “The Fillmore" where she bumped elbows with many, now famous, musicians. She saw Jimi Hendrix and hung out with Janis Joplin, smoked with Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, on the front step of his home, on Haight and Ashbury. Her bar's house band, Three Dog Night, would sleep on her couches. She would talk to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin on the phone when he would call her roommate, Morgan. She ran with the Hell's Angels and Gypsie Jokers and would proudly say she only sat on a Harley or Indian motorcycle. She met other famous people throughout her life, like John F. Kennedy.
For Dianna, music wasn't just listened to, but a lifestyle that shaped every facet of her colorful life. She named her only child, Justin, after Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues and she welcomed him into this world March of 1974. She would instill in him a lifelong love of music and concerts; she took Justin to his first concert, at the age of 7, to see the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and he ended up on stage while they performed “Mr. Bojangles.”
In 1981, Dianna & Justin moved to Camdenton, MO. Dianna quickly became a well-liked, spicy Scorpio bartender who could definitely hold her own. She managed various bars in Camdenton until the late 1990's and eventually retired from Emerson in the early 2000’s. Dianna was also a lifelong avid reader and in her last years, she made and gave away bookmarks to instill in others a love for reading.
Dianna was preceded in death by her father and mother; and her sister-in-law, Linda Steinhauer.
She is survived by her beloved son, Justin Steinhauer (Karin) of Camdenton, MO; brothers, Phillip Steinhauer of Sebastopol, CA, David Steinhauer (Brenda) of Kansas City, KS; nieces, Kerry Steinhauer of Sebastopol, CA, Dena Beckman (Matt) of Sparks, NV, Michelle Clark (Michael) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Christina Lint (Kevin) of Raymore, MO; four great-nephews and seven great nieces.
