Dicie Decker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Dicie Freedom Decker, daughter of Charley Thomas and Lillie Mae Bingham Wilson, was born September 16, 1918, near Brownfield, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Christian Health and Rehabilitation Center North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, six months, and four days.
On January 12, 1935, she was united in marriage to Lloyd J. Decker, and they shared forty-nine years before his passing on June 13, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dewey, Glennis, and Rev. Curtis Wilson; and three sisters, Opal Munholland, Berthenia Light, and Edna Lewis.
Dicie is survived by a nephew, Steve Light, and his wife, Beverly, and a niece, Pam Davis, and her husband, Dean, who made their home with Dicie and Lloyd for several years; a number of other nieces and nephews that she thought of as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was born and raised in the Brownfield community, in Laclede County, Missouri. After she and Lloyd were married, they made their home in the Lebanon, Missouri area. Dicie was a devoted homemaker to her husband, and also worked as a seamstress for many years. She was first employed by the Alliance Company, which became the Rice Stix Factory. Later, when the company changed ownership again, she worked for several years for the H. D. Lee Company.
Dicie made her profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime active member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church. Throughout the years, she had been involved in many areas of church work. Later, she attended the Second Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She was also a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge # 680 in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed piecing quilts, working in her garden, and attending and having garage sales. She possessed a kind and caring spirit and a very giving nature. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Dicie was a loving “granny” and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life, and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
