Dixie Lowery's Obituary
Dixie Lee Lowery, daughter of David and Maxine Ford Lawson, was born May 19, 1937, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, ten months, and twelve days. On April 28, 1955, she was united in marriage to James W. Lowery, and to this union one daughter and six sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Teddy Gene and William David Lowery; two brothers, Johnny and Claude; and two sisters, Alma, and Jean. Dixie is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, James, of the home; a daughter, Pam Knapp, and her husband, Reuben, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sons, Wallace Lowery, and his wife, Brenda, of Sleeper, Missouri, Gary Lowery, and his wife, Trish, of Conway, Missouri, Chester Lowery, and his wife, Cheryl, and Chris Lowery, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Jacobson, and Kay Rausph; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised near Lebanon, in Laclede County, Missouri. After she and James were married, they lived most of their years together in the Lebanon area. Throughout the years, Dixie was a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her family. In addition, she also did housekeeping for other families in and around Lebanon for several years. Dixie had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. She greatly enjoyed activities with her family and particularly being outdoors fishing and camping. She also enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dixie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime. Graveside Services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday April 2, 2010 at the Lowery Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday evening 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
